Card of the day: ANNAPURNA – Goddess of Harvest
Nourishment. Generosity. Harvest. A harvest awaits you. Enjoy it.
Many Hindus believe that Annapurna is the nourisher, the creator of food to feed the world. This generous goddess is often depicted in lovely statues and paintings as sitting upon a grand throne, offering food to a small child. Often honored at harvest festivals, Annapurna as the avatar or incarnation of the mother goddess Durga, represents the bounty that the world seeks to offer us.
When a delectable meal is offered to you, do you distrust the bounty set before you? Even when this “meal” takes the form of something else that nurtures your your spirit, do you put yourself on a diet of self-righteousness instead of enjoying the generous offering?
Take heed: the Universe is eternally benevolent in its limitless bounty. Take advantage of what is offered you!
“You gave them bread from heaven for their hunger, and brought them water out of the rock for their thirst, and told them to go in to possess the land which You had sworn to give them.” – Nehemiah 9:15, NKJV
