NOTES ON YOUR FORTUNE IN THE YEAR OF THE WOOD SHEEP 2015

You know, I must confess that although I’m into astrology and tarot, I never did fully get the hang of Chinese astrology. What I know is called Western, or tropical astrology, with the 12 Sun signs from Aries to Pisces. In this type of astrology, we follow the apparent movement of the Sun around the Earth (geocentric model, not heliocentric). The Sun passes through 30 degrees/ days per sign, going from Aries, to Taurus, to Gemini, and so on, until it reaches Pisces. Then the cycle begins again the following year.

In Chinese astrology, there are 12 animals in their zodiac, but it takes 12 years before one’s own sign is declared ruler of the year again. Some have suggested that this is related to the 12-year Jupiter cycle, Jupiter being the planet of luck and 12 years being the operative number before Jupiter returns to its original place in a person’s natal chart. Meanwhile, everyone born under the same year is considered to be sharing the same personal characteristics and luck during a certain year. For example, I was born under the year of the Metal Dog. How will Metal Dogs like me fare during this year of the Wood Sheep? I guess it just takes a bit of getting used to. I’m just more familiar with Western astrology than with Chinese astrology.
Even so, I decided to do some research and convene with my Cosmic Cabinet. I have asked for their Divine guidance so that I could take some notes about each Chinese sign’s fortune during this Year of the Wood Sheep which officially started last Feb. 19, 2015. Please take note that the date of the Chinese New Year changes per year, so if you were born in January or February, consult a book like “Suzanne White’s Guide to Love” or “The New Astrology – A Unique Synthesis of the World’s Two Great Astrological Systems; The Chinese and Western,” also by Suzanne White. This is so that if for example your birthday is on Feb. 3, 1981, you don’t go about thinking that you’re an early-onset Rooster (Feb. 5, 1981-Jan. 24, 1982) when you’re actually a late-breaking Monkey (Feb. 16, 1980-Feb. 4, 1981).

After convening with my Cosmic Cabinet, here are our combined notes about the fortunes of each of the 12 Chinese signs during this year of the Wood Sheep (also called Goat or Ram):

RAT (1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008) This will be a good year overall for you. When it comes to love and romance, there is a possibility that a third party would be involved. In terms of career, do your best to get along with your boss and keep a low profile at work. This is not yet the best time to change jobs. Take care of your health.
OX (1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009) This might be a difficult and challenging year for you. While this year also brings the heaven money wealth star to your sign, signifying money, this does not mean that you should overspend. Don’t delay getting your health check-ups. Observe proper diet and exercise.
TIGER (1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010) This year would be relatively smooth-sailing for you, with no major challenges or adversities. The auspicious love star is in your sign, so there are good possibilities about new love relationships. You will get ahead in your career or business, plus your health puts you in tiptop shape.
RABBIT (1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011) This year will be highly profitable for you. You may see an increase in salary or an opportunity to invest in property. You need to socialize more yet at the same time be careful about what you say. Married Rabbits obtain a peaceful home environment. Health improves and adds vitality.
DRAGON (1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012) This will be a highly powerful and emotional year for you so you may need to learn how to communicate your feelings better. Master Hanz Cua suggests that Dragons do good deeds like praying and going to church to increase their good luck. There is strong love luck, an opportunity to find a better job, and no major health problems.
SNAKE (1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013) The wisdom and career luck star are in your sign, making this a good year for taking an exam, getting insurance, and property investment. Your success in your job depends on how well you meet the demands of your boss and clients. There will be mostly short-term romances this year. Drive safely.
HORSE (1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014) There is a need for teamwork and collaboration in many aspects of your life this year, especially in your business or career. Wealth-wise, things may seem a little bleak, but at the same time, your strong love luck kicks in, even making this a lucky year to get married. Definitely a year of major changes!
SHEEP/RAM/GOAT (1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015) This will be an excellent year for you, especially in love and relationships. Career and business will flourish. However, you still need to avoid arguments, keep a low profile and share your plans with friends and family. Don’t delay getting that full medical checkup.
MONKEY (1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016) You will be lucky in love, in ascending the corporate ladder, or in starting your own business this year. You are warned, though, to avoid risky, short-term investments. This will be a year of high energy, enthusiasm, and activity. Still, make sure that you get enough sleep. Believe me, you’ll need plenty more sleep this year to balance all that excitement.
ROOSTER (1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, 2017) With proper planning and organization, it is still possible for you to make the most of what could be a challenging year. There could be problems in your relationships, health, and legal matters. Keep a low profile, strategize, and pray more frequently to enhance your luck.
DOG (1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018) The good news: single Dogs will find partners. Not-so-good news: backstabbing, jealousy, and gossip in the workplace. Avoid these unproductive acts. The helping hand star is in your sign so use your public relations skills to attract helpful friends. You also have a strong fame and recognition luck this year.
BOAR/PIG (1946, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, 2019) For you, everything is new this year: experiences, acquaintances, and places to visit! This could be a very strong, profitable year for you brought on by strong business partnership luck. You do need to socialize more, and make sure that your partner does not mistake your patience for being aloof. Good health is with you.

That concludes our forecast notes for all the 12 Chinese zodiac signs in the Year of the Wood Sheep. I would like to thank my Cosmic Cabinet for helping me with my research. Oh, and don’t forget that the lucky color for this year is green!

So wear green, and lots of it. It’s for good luck, my dear.
